Everyone knows that D.R. Domenichini Construction’s owner, Dave, is a car guy. His automotive exploits have been well documented on this site and in our quarterly newsletter. But did you know Dave is an experienced Car Rescuer?
One of Dave’s favorite “Car Guy” things to do is to be a Car Rescuer. He likes to get a car running after it’s been parked for several years or, in many cases, decades. He loves hearing them roar back to life after a long slumber.
Dave enjoys purchasing non-running cars and then spending time getting them up and running and well sorted. He keeps them for a while (usually 2-3 years) and then sells them.
As quoted by Dave, “I like to save cars from deteriorating to the point of no return and preventing them from going to the wrecking yard. I don’t consider myself the owner of the car… I’m more of the caretaker. I buy a car, improve on it, and then I drive it to create memories. After a few years, I sell it and pass it on to the next caretaker. I get to keep the memories that I’ve created and then
let someone else enjoy it. Hopefully they maintain it and continue to make improvements and then create their own memories.”
Dave has recently engaged with a young lady who is using his services/skills to help her get four cars up and running. He is going to clean them up, market them, and sell them for her.
